New Approach Could Lower Antibiotic Requirements By 50 Times

Antibiotic doses could be reduced by up to 50 times using a new approach based on bacteriophages

Steven Hagens, previously at the University of Vienna, told Chemistry & Industry, the magazine of the SCI, that certain bacteriophages, a type of virus that infects bacteria, can boost the effectiveness of antibiotics gentamicin, gramacidin or tetracycline.

It is the phages’ ability to channel through bacterial cell membranes that boosts antibiotic effectiveness. ‘Pseudomonas bacteria for example are particularly multi-resistant to antibiotics because they have efflux pump mechanisms that enable them to throw out antibiotics. A pore in the cell wall would obviously cancel the efflux effect,’ Hagens explains.

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) – Tall men seem to have a heightened risk of developing an enlarged prostate, also known as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), a new study shows. Advancing age and high fasting blood sugar levels also raise the odds of BPH, whereas a greater systolic blood pressure — the first number in the blood pressure reading – may indicate a lower risk.

Just few monthes from now ,and i will be kicked out of the faculty of pharmacy

it;s like kicking a domestic animal- used to live in a safe home -to a tough and wild wood

Acually iam not so glad for leaving this faculty ,not because i had good days there (which didnot happen) but because iam expecting very hars days after graduation in a country of a very high % of unemployment ratios

ربما حاول علاء الأسواني ان يختصر روايتة كلها في هذا المشهد القصير الذي يجمع ذكي باشا وبثينة ذكي باشا ..هو مثل لألاف المصريين الذين يعيشون بيننا ممن شهدوا مصر قبل 50عاما وذابوا في جمالها ثم دارت بهم الدوائر حتي فوجؤا بمصر الحالية وهم لا يدركون ما حدث وكيف تبدلت مصر بهذة الصورة …………اما بثينة فهي مثال لك عزيزتي القارئة وربما لجيلنا كلة -نحن الذين انفتحت عيوننا علي مصر بشكلها الحالي يبدا المشهد بمحاولة من ذكي للأعتراف لبثينة بسر ربما حاول ان يخفية ليس عنها فقط وانما حاول ان يهرب من الأعتراف بة لنفسة فيقول

فقاطعها صارخا: يبصوا علينا لية ,يبصوا ع البلد اللي باظت… ,يبصوا ع العمارات اللي كانت احسن من عمارات اوروبا. دلوقتي بقت مزابل من فوق ومن تحت مسخ

 احنا في زمن المسخ ” قدم ذكي بشكل تفصيلي مقارنة وافية بين حال مصر قبل 50 عاما وحال مصر الأن ولكنة نسي ان يقدم لنا السبب في هذا التحول السلبي فأماننة عليكم اسألوا ذكي …اسألوا اقدم واحد في العمارة دي عن سبب هذا التحول
